Resolve Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 9, 2026 Last Updated: February 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Resolve ("Resolve," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Resolve mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Services"). Resolve is a habit tracking / resolution app designed to help people keep commitments by using optional monetary penalties that are distributed to charities selected by the user.

If you have questions or requests about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, contact us at team@innocencelabs.com.

1) Summary (Plain English)

We collect the minimum data needed to run Resolve, including account information (email/username/password), your habit data and logs, and limited purchase/subscription records. We do not sell your personal information. We do not run ads and we do not "track" you across other companies' apps or websites. Payments and subscriptions are processed via Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit), and we do not receive your payment card details. You can delete habits and delete your account in the App.

2) Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

Account Information: We collect your email address, username, and password. Passwords are securely hashed using an industry-standard one-way algorithm and are never stored in plain text. We also collect a cryptographic public key generated on your device, which is used to enable end-to-end encryption when sharing resolutions with friends. When you create an account, your email address is added to our email list so we may send occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any such email or by contacting us.

User Content / Habit Data: We collect the habit names and descriptions you create, completion logs, streaks, timestamps, and other in-app information you enter as part of using the Services. Some habits may be sensitive in nature (for example, mental health, addiction, or relationships). This content is private to you and is not publicly shared by Resolve. Habit and resolution titles are end-to-end encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers, meaning Resolve cannot read or access them.

Profile Image (Optional): If you upload a profile photo, we collect and store that image. Profile images are stored in a way that makes them accessible via URL to enable sharing with friends and other users you interact with. Your profile image is deleted from our storage if you delete your account.

Support & Communications: If you contact us (including through contact forms), we collect what you submit, such as your name (if provided), email address, and message contents.

B. Information collected automatically

Push Notification Identifiers: If you enable notifications, we collect a device token used to deliver push notifications.

Basic App Analytics (No Tracking): We collect limited, first-party usage information to understand app performance and improve the Services (for example, feature usage and general app interactions). We do not use third-party advertising SDKs and do not track you across apps or websites.

Diagnostics / Security Logs: We may generate error logs and diagnostic information to help maintain reliability and security. Where possible, we minimize and/or anonymize user context included in these logs.

C. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Penalties

Apple In-App Purchases: All payments (including subscriptions and penalty payments) are processed through Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). We do not collect or store payment card information.

Transaction Records We Store: We store subscription status (active/inactive), transaction/receipt identifiers as needed to confirm purchases, and penalty amounts and related metadata necessary to operate the penalty and distribution feature (including selected charity option).

3) How We Use Information

We use the information described above to provide and operate the Services (including account creation, authentication, and saving/syncing your habits and logs), send transactional communications (such as verification emails and service notices), send push notifications you request (habit reminders and alerts), process and administer subscriptions and purchases (including verifying transactions), operate the penalty feature and distribute funds to user-selected charities (including accounting, fraud prevention, and compliance), provide customer support and respond to requests, improve and maintain the Services (troubleshooting, debugging, analytics, and product improvements), protect the safety and integrity of the Services (security monitoring and preventing abuse), and comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4) How Penalties and Charity Distributions Work (Privacy + Transparency)

Resolve includes a feature where users may choose to apply monetary penalties to missed commitments and direct those amounts to charities chosen by the user.

Funds Flow: For the free tier, we may retain a 10% fee, and 90% of penalty funds are set aside for distribution to the user-selected charity. For the Plus tier, 100% of penalty funds are set aside for distribution to the user-selected charity (no fee retained). Penalty funds may be temporarily held in our accounts before being distributed to charities.

Data We Keep for This Feature: We keep penalty amounts, subscription status, transaction identifiers, and your selected charity option so we can distribute funds appropriately.

Important Notes: Resolve is not a bank or payment processor. Apple processes payments via StoreKit. Resolve is not a charity. Charity selection and distribution are features of the Services, and we do not provide tax advice.

5) When We Share Information

We share information only as described below.

A. Service providers (processors)

We use trusted vendors to operate key app functions. They may process data on our behalf under their terms and policies.

Resend (Email Delivery): We share email addresses and email contents needed to deliver verification and transactional emails, and audience list membership. This is used for sending verification emails, notifications, and managing email audiences.

Apple Push Notification Service (APNs): We share device tokens and notification content. This is used to deliver push notifications.

DigitalOcean Spaces (File Storage): We share profile images uploaded by users. This is used to store user-uploaded profile images.

Slack (Internal Notifications): We share contact form submissions (name/email/message if provided) and error logs (which may contain limited or anonymized user context). This is used for internal monitoring and support.

Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases): Apple processes purchase transactions (Apple manages payment details and Apple ID). This is used for in-app purchases.

B. Legal and safety

We may share information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; enforce applicable terms and policies; protect the security or integrity of the Services; or protect the rights, property, and safety of Resolve, our users, or others. Note that end-to-end encrypted data (such as resolution titles) cannot be decrypted or read by Resolve, even in response to legal requests.

C. Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

D. Data visible to other users

Resolve includes social features such as friendships and shared resolutions. The following information may be visible to other users you interact with: your username, profile image, and subscription status. If you participate in a shared resolution, friends on that resolution can also see your check-in completion dates. Other users cannot see your email address, resolution titles (which are end-to-end encrypted), penalty amounts, charity selections, or notification schedules.

We do not sell your personal information.

6) No Advertising & No Tracking

Resolve does not display third-party ads. We do not track you across other companies' apps, websites, or services for advertising or measurement purposes.

We do not collect: location data, contacts or address book data, health or fitness data, browsing history, phone number, physical address, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or device fingerprinting data.

7) Data Storage, Security, and Access Controls

Data Location: Your account and habit data are stored on our servers. Profile images are stored in DigitalOcean Spaces. Authentication/session tokens are stored securely on your device (iOS Keychain) and remain active until you log out or delete your account. Your end-to-end encryption private key is stored in your iOS Keychain and syncs via iCloud Keychain to enable multi-device access. This means Apple may store an encrypted copy of your private key as part of iCloud Keychain, subject to Apple's own privacy policy.

Security Measures: We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted/protected storage for sensitive data where appropriate, and access controls limiting internal access to authorized personnel only. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Internal Access: A limited number of authorized personnel may access account information (such as email addresses and usernames), diagnostic logs, and support records for the purposes of customer support, security monitoring, and service maintenance. Authorized personnel cannot access end-to-end encrypted data such as resolution titles.

8) Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the Services, including to maintain your account and habit history, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In general, account and habit data are retained until you delete them or delete your account. Residual copies may persist for a limited period in backup systems before being overwritten.

9) Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — To provide and operate the Services you signed up for, including account creation, authentication, habit tracking, and check-in features.
  • Legitimate interest — To maintain the security and integrity of the Services, prevent fraud, and improve the app through first-party analytics, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — For sending marketing or promotional emails. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us.
  • Legal obligation — To retain certain records (such as anonymized financial records for charity distributions) as required by applicable law.

10) Your Choices and Rights

You can delete individual habits in the App. You can also delete your account in the App. Deleting your account removes your account from our active systems, including your profile, resolutions, check-in history, friendships, device tokens, and notification schedules. The following data may be retained after account deletion:

  • Anonymized penalty payment records (with your identity removed) are kept for charity distribution accounting and compliance purposes.
  • Diagnostic and event logs that may contain your user ID or username are retained for security, debugging, and fraud prevention purposes.
  • Contact form submissions you made are retained for customer support records.
  • Processed email delivery records may persist in our email queue logs.

You can enable or disable notifications in your device settings.

If we send marketing emails, you can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us at team@innocencelabs.com. Transactional or service emails related to your account may still be sent as needed.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information. You can request help at team@innocencelabs.com.

11) Children's Privacy

Resolve is intended for a general audience but is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us at team@innocencelabs.com and we will take steps to delete it.

12) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by posting the updated policy and updating the "Last Updated" date). Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
